What they're testing: pure composure plus self-awareness — refusing to play ('there's no reason not to!') fails on arrogance, and genuine self-sabotage fails on judgment. The move: play along with a real-but-managed limitation, framed as a fit condition: 'If you need someone who's already worked in this sector and needs zero ramp-up, that's not me — I'll need a few weeks of intense catch-up, and here's how I've closed that kind of gap before.' One honest, non-core limitation, immediately counterweighted, delivered with poise and a touch of humor. Keep it away from the fatal traits — reliability, detail, ethics, commitment. A strong close flips it: 'That's the honest case against me. Everything else — work ethic, accuracy, sticking around — I can evidence.' The interviewer remembers whether you stayed relaxed far more than what you said.
