The 40-second drill timer
Reading an answer and saying it are different sports. This is the window a first-round interviewer actually gives you — use it on any question, from anywhere.
40.0
Pick a question. Hit start. Say the whole answer out loud before zero.
Why 40 seconds?
Watch any good first-round: after the question lands, you get roughly one breath to structure and half a minute to deliver before the interviewer starts steering. If your walk-through-a-DCF answer needs two minutes, it needs editing, not more content. 40 seconds forces the edit — headline first, mechanics second, stop talking.
How to use it
Grab a question — the question of the day, one from the 5-question quiz, or whatever your study group throws at you. Hit start, answer out loud in full sentences, and grade yourself honestly when it hits zero: said it clean, survived it, or blanked. Then do it again tomorrow — the reps are the product.
Knowing the formula isn't the same as saying it under pressure.
WACC Buddy drills the 40-second answer — and every other IB technical — until the answers come out clean in the room. 2,000+ human-reviewed questions, spaced-repetition scheduled.
